$SLAM is the currency of an **entire web3 information economy** and the official utility token of the [SLAMai ecosystem](https://docs.slamai.xyz/welcome-to-slamai/our-ecosystem). It also plays a fundamental role in the governance of the [SLAMai DAO](https://docs.slamai.xyz/governance/slamai-dao).

### Minting & Supply Cap

$SLAM will be first minted as an ERC-20 token on the Base blockchain with a total fixed supply of 5,000,000,000 tokens.&#x20;

It will then be bridged to [SLAMchain](https://docs.slamai.xyz/platforms/slamchain), when launched, serving as its native gas token.

### Community & End-User Distribution

A portion of $SLAM's total supply is [allocated](https://docs.slamai.xyz/tokens/slam/allocations) for distribution to end-users to grow the [SlamNet ecosystem](https://docs.slamai.xyz/welcome-to-slamai/our-ecosystem).

To this end, the [SlamNet DAO](https://docs.slamai.xyz/governance/slamai-dao) will conduct various $SLAM airdrops to members of partner communities, including its flagship launch partner, [CryptoSlam](https://docs.slamai.xyz/welcome-to-slamai/background).
